We found Shonora Station ETHIOPIA by Volcano Coffee Works of top notch quality and a great example of naturally processed Ethiopian beans resulting in a very clean yet complex cup. Although it's been created specifically for filter brewing, we think it is very good brewed as a fruity espresso too. With juicy orange & lemon notes, hints of caramel, nutty & floral undertones, this coffee is best enjoyed black and is a perfect choice for a laid back Sunday morning.

Guji Region, Ethiopia

The high elevations and mountainous regions of Ethiopia make for excellent growing conditions. Because coffee plants grow naturally in Ethiopia, most of the plants are under shade, among other plants, and without the use of agricultural chemicals. Coffee from Ethiopia is renowned for its vibrant fruity and flowery characteristics. They often contain complex taste nuances, a light to medium body, and a stronger acidity. Most Ethiopian coffee is grown as garden coffee, typically produced sustainably. ""Garden coffee"" is frequently intercropped with other plants planted by farmers near their homes. Shonora Station coffee plantation is located at an altitude of > 2100 – 2300 meters above sea level, with a cup score above 87. The family-run station was established 30 years ago by Mr. Shonora Gata and has now been taken over by his two sons – Adugna and Morkata. The station processes coffee cherries from up to 150 local growers! The Shonoras have built a local school for the producers in the area and have plans to build a health centre later this year.
